The bear is an animal that appears in the SimAnimals game. They are somewhat the mascot of the game and the top predator of the food chain. They eat all the other mammals of SimAnimals and some songbirds. The ideal location for bears on the game is River Ridge. The types of bear in the game are Grizzly Bears, Black Bears, and Spectacled Bears. Bears are the most popular animal in the game and appear in the most commercials. Despite being at the top of the food chain, they prefer blackberries and other fruits much more. They can only live in hollow stumps.

Appearance and Traits[]
Bears walk around clumsily. They have big claws and are the biggest animals in the game. Bears have a body type that's much like a badger. Grizzly Bears have dark to light brown fur. Black bears have completely black fur with a tan snout. Spectacled bears, like black bears, have black fur but have tan spectacles around their faces. Cub look similar but are far smaller with large ears.
In personality, they are mean and grumpy animals when they are introduced. However, they are like overgrown puppies when they trust other animals or the player. They play like puppies to the point where they can play fetch. Bears are also rather clumsy and don't show much intelligence in the game.

Trivia[]
Due to the games balancing problems; bears are commonly known to over take a game and eat every prey animal. It's common among fans to call unlocking River Ridge as 'The beginning of the bear-apocalypse'
While the Bear is the games main mascot and portrayed as adorable due to the balancing issue with predator animals, Bears at the very worst are hated by the community and at the very least are seen as an annoyance in game play.
While it's different from game to game, a common tip is to place every bear you get into Dry Gulch to keep them from leaving, and spawning else where. This has a mix result. Some have seen a decrees in random bears appearances both current bears in game and newly generated bears; while others still have to deal with Bears showing up and having to fill another land with just Bears. There is no fix for this, once you unlock Bears the best the players can do is befriend them quickly then put them in your backpack to keep them from eating other animals.
Another trick used by players to keep bears from eating prey animals is planting many trees, waiting for them to grow, then knocking them down setting them in a pile to encourage mushrooms to grow around the dead trees. Once more this has mix results dependent on how many bears you have in the land. If you don't have many bears, your planting of mushrooms have the possibility to call other animals like wolves and boar into the land (along with more bears) as long as you don't care for the new animals that show up, this will give more food for the bears to chase after.
The only way to get rid of a bear is by old age. You can't cheat the system and let the game continue to play within a land full of only just bears to wait them out like other animals, as if they grow unhappy enough they will leave the land, (and not for good like most hope) showing up into the next land you load into. They may not instantly show up in the new land you load in, just wait as they will show up again though that's fully dependent on what conditions the land you load in have. Bears also have a longer life in game then most prey animals, as it takes longer for them to reach old age and "retire".
